Love, Lattes and Mutants

Love, Lattes and Mutants by Sandra Cox

FREE Book!

Love, Lattes and Mutants High school is hard enough without having to hide who you truly are. Afraid each day that someone might find out that you aren’t whom you seem to be day in and day out. Piper Dunn has to had herself under rose colored glasses (not the good kind), buggy clothes, and deepens her voice so people don’t notice her and discover her secret. That secret is that she has dolphin DNA. Her mother had escaped from a lab where she was teased and had surgeries. The Dunn family find her and took her in as a daughter their son fell in love with her they got married and had Piper. when she was little her parents died in a car accident and now it’s just her, her grandfather, and her true love- the ocean. Piper spends her days at school going undetected and her nights saving the ocean life. But that’s all about to change after she becomes friends with the new kids in school. Twins Holly and Tyler are trying to figure out the mystery that is Piper especially Tyler who gives Piper butterflies and keeps fighting his way into her life. When he is just about to get close enough to Piper she gets captured by the very people who made her mom. There she meets a fellow Dolph Joel. With their Like Blood it’s hard to fight the pull she has towards him. But Piper needs to escape along with the dolphin’s that they have captured and are testing on. Can Piper get back to her grandfather? Can she really escape just like her mother did all those years ago?

Okay, so this book wasn’t exactly what I thought it was going to be and I feel like how Piper acts in her geek apparel is a little much. I think she can act somewhat like a normal teenage and have friends if she wants. I know she doesn’t want to be found but I feel like if she really doesn’t want to be caught then she should have avoided the traps that were obviously set for her! I think that when some sees that I girl can hold her breath under water for half an hour and can swim really fast when they try to catch her is more obvious than if she dressed like a normal girl at school. Just saying. I really did enjoy the book. Tyler and his family life are so unreal but once you read the next book you start to see why he mentions what he does. Although, if I had an extremely dangerous uncle I’m sure I wouldn’t tell people and my parents sure as heck wouldn’t let me go visit them! I love how Tyler teaches her self-defense it’s absolutely sweet but he does get a little stalkerish, but what teenager isn’t. I’m sure I’ve gone on a few stake outs with my friends when she liked a boy. I’m still down for a good stake out!

My favorite part of the book is when Tyler comes over the next day after “Gramps” saves him and he is determine to prove to Piper that he knows she was the one who saved him. How he proves will make the butterflies in your stomach take off!

I give this book a 3 star rating. Good one time read I may read it again because it really is a pretty original book and I love the idea of Dolph mutants. Make me think of mermaids.

Frost (The Frost Chronicles) by Kate Avery Ellison

****KindleUnlimited ****

“In the icy, monster-plagued world of the Frost, one wrong move and a person could end up dead—and Lia Weaver knows this better than anyone.”

frost How does Lia Weaver describe the Frost? It was COLD, the kind of cold that made bones feel brittle and hands ache. But it’s her home. A frozen land where monster lurk in the forest. Monsters that killed her parents and left Lia to take care of her crippled twin brother and little sister. Lia had to grow up fast. She doesn’t have time to behave like the others her age who are now courting each other and still gossip. To make manner worse she tends to run into Adam Brewer in town. He’s responsible for the death of her parents. If he could get his Quota’s done on time her parents wouldn’t have gone over to help him. They were caught by the Watchers. The monsters of the Frost. But they aren’t the only ones they fear. They also fear the Farthers. Farthers are the people from farther than the Frost. Lia is under strict watch from the elders, and she’s just trying to keep her family afloat when her sister Ivy rescues a Farther from the forest. Now, Lia is taking care of him hiding him from the town in her barn on the outside of town. When he wakes he tells her his name is Gabe and talks about needing to get to some Gate. The Gate is called Echlos. The Mayor is trying to find it as well. Now, Lia and Gabe are trying to find it and she discovers some deep secrets her parents were hiding from her. She learns about this mysterious group called the Thorns. Who are they and can they be trusted? Will she have to seek help in the one man she has detested since her parent’s death? What and where is this gate named the Echlos?

This is the series which made me finally give in and buy KindleUnlimited. I had gotten the first book free when it showed up in my daily book emails and then I knew that I just had to read the rest of the series. Reading this series in less than a week. It’s a don’t put it down until you’ve finished the whole series kind of book. I just feel in love with the world and characters. Lia is so strong and has the biggest heart. She will do anything to keep her family together and take care of them even though she’s just a child herself. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders already and yet she takes on a stranger and nurses him back to health when she didn’t have to. Then she finds herself sucked into the world of the Thorns. With secret gates and meetings. Who are they and who is a part of the Thorns. Lia has to put her trust in people she never thought she could.

My favorite part of this book? Ugh I don’t know let me think. Okay, I got it. I think I really like the part where Gabe is moved into their house because he’s fever had gotten bad and he was yelling in the barn and Lia didn’t want to watchers to get him. And in the morning they both kind of check each other out. Lia because she’s finally getting a good look at him and Gabe because Lia is all dressed up to meet with the Mayor. Gabe and Lia have a lot of sweet moments in this book.

I love the relationship between Ivy and Lia. You can tell the Ivy wants to act older then she really is and is jealous that Lia is in charge, but what she doesn’t realize is that Lia is having a hard time trying to take care of them by getting their quotas done and making the town meetings. Ivy just thinks going to town is full of fun and flirting for Lia. When in actuality Lia hates it and just wants to get back home. It’s hard on all of them having just lost their parents but Lia had to pick that role and I’m really proud about how she handles herself.

I give this book 4 stars. **** check it out you won’t regret it!

Dead Man Calling: Undertaker Mystery

Dead Man Calling: An Undertaker Mystery by Kendre Ashe

***KindleUnlimited ***

Dead Man Calling Jasmine (Jazz) Sweeny has just inherited the assets of a grandfather she didn’t know she had, the oldest mortuary, Blackwell Rest, a talking monkey named Sir Edward, and she also has a guardian. Who she thinks she can work around but ends up being more a part of her life then she ever thought. She also inherited another gift, if you can call it that, from Blackwell as well. Jazz is now a Justice Reaper and as such she has to help these spirts with their unfinished business and she has to reap the souls of the bad guys. YAY! Jazz has changed that mortuary into a night club called: The Undertaker. But now Jazz is starting to see ghosts. One who lives in her apartment and likes to sit and knit in Jazz’s favorite chair but is harmless, but now she’s seeing visions of murder’s happening. That’s not all A Biker War seems to be starting and she discovers that their hometown MC’s, Death Dogs, may be protecting her. She discovers this when someone tries to murder her in her home and she is saved by one of them. Along with all this Jazz learns that there’s a group of witches in town that want to get rid of her and that she may have allies in werewolves. All of this and she’s still trying to get extra money from her guardian for her opening night at The Undertaker.

Cute and very fast read! I love short mystery books. If you have a car trip coming up this is a great story to pick up and start the first two books are already out and you can read the first one on the way to your destination and the other on the way back! If you’ve been following my blog or just look at my posts, you’ll see that I LOVE paranormal books! So this Reaper Girl Jazz is so up my alley. Jazz is funny and full of faults that make her seem so real and make her so relatable! I love her relationship with Detective Swan. At first I thought maybe a little somethin’ somethin’ was going on just like her best friend and bar tender Lyndy Butler. Who knows it could still happen but if not Brock the leader of the Death Dogs if defiantly my top pick! Every girl loves a bad boy!

I give this book 3 stars and a thumps up! It will mostly defiantly be getting reread!

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle Book 2)

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle Book 2) by Maggie Stiefvater

***If you haven’t read book 1 there are SPOILERS! This is your Spoiler Alert! Leave Now and read The Raven Boys Book 1 Review HERE! ***

If you could steal things from dreams, what would you take?

rave book 2 Blue and her Raven Boys are back in The Dream Thieves. In the Last book we learned Ronan’s secret. That he can take things from his dreams, Like Chainsaw his cute little baby raven. We also learned that Adam changed when he woke up the ley line. But somethings gone wrong! Even with the constant power surges Cabeswater had disappeared.  Gansey’s in a panic and starts buying things, Blue is trying to fight her feelings for Gansey and figure out her feelings for Adam. Adam is barely holding himself together with seeing things and trying to live on his own and Blue not letting him kiss her. Ronan is learning more about who he really is and who and what his dad is. Maybe there’s more to being a Greywaren then he thought.  But with all of this there’s someone else in town looking for the Greywaren and he’s not the only one. The Gray Man brings something new to this story, a hit man to be exact. After Ronan has an accident he learns that he is not only in the world but that might not be a good thing.  What is happening to Adam? Who does Blue kiss? What is a Greywaren? Who is Kavinsky? Why is the Gray man here? Can Ronan save his father’s dreams; can he save his own? Will Blue and Gansey finally see what’s between them? Why is Noah reenacting his death? And finally Where did Cabeswater go?

I just, first I gotta say that I just LOVE this series! Maggie Stiefvater is such an amazing writer! Only she can make my heart pound and blush and there not even be a kiss! I mean my goodness can this girl write a steamy non kiss! Let me just fan my face before I continue. Whoa, okay so Blue does get her first kiss in this book and it’s not from someone you would expect. But it’s totally sweet and awkward just like every first kiss should be. This is a read in one-day kind of book, actually this is a read one book right after the other kind of series because you just can’t get enough! I love Blue and her Raven boys! I love all the boys even Ronan and I love how we get to see more about Ronan in this book because we understand him so much more in this book! I’m so looking forward to rereading the next book and then for the last book to FINALLY come out! If you haven’t read this series, then first why didn’t you head my warning? and secondly go read The Raven Boys right NOW! Go because this is one of the best series I’ve EVER read. they are perfection I can find not faults in these books they are just that amazing and so well written.

I have a lot of favorite parts of this book. Too many to tell you.I love when Blue and Ronan are arguing about religion and Blue thinks that Gansey is oblivious but in fact he is Enlightened. I also love when they are going out on the boat and Orla is with them and you get to see that both Blue and Gansey are starting to like each other.

“She wore a dress Ronan thought looked like a lampshade. Whatever sort of lamp it belonged on, Gansey clearly wished he had one.”

That’s a line from my favorite part of the book because Gansey is dressed normal and Blue can’t help but check him out but hey you can’t blame her right?

Alright so there’s my review I know it’s ALL over the place! But I feel like I can’t ever give a lovely review of a book I love because I just wanna do this!

OMG!!!!! So Crazy!!!!!!! 🙂 I couldn’t believe that happens!!!!!!!!!!! OMG THE PIG!!!!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? OMG OMG! SAY WHA….!!!!! Maggie Stiefvater did it again! I LOVE HER!!!!

So if neither of those prompt you to read the book then I urge you to just give it a chance because you will NOT regret it!

I give this book 5 STARS!!!! so go read it now!

Check out Maggie Stiefvater’s website.

Revenge of the Homecoming Queen (The Aspen Brooks Trilogy Book 1)

Revenge of the Homecoming Queen (The Aspen Brooks Trilogy Book 1) by Stephanie Hale

***Kindle Unlimited***

revenge of the homecoming queen

Aspen Brooks has always wanted to win Homecoming Queen but on the day of the announcement three shocking things happen. First off Rand Bachrach wins Homecoming King and her so called boyfriend Lucas put everyone up to getting the little nerd voted in, second the crown goes to Angel Ives her nemesis and finally after having to deal with pranks from Angel whom is pissed because Rand was her king and she was taking it out on Aspen, she ends up spending the afternoon with Rand and she discovers that he isn’t such a bad guy after all. During the bonfire Aspen sees Angel and her boyfriend wonder off and as she goes after them ends up having an asthma attack and Rand ends up taking her to the hospital. She ends up seeing a new side of Rand while he’s there for her in the hospital whereas her boyfriend was no where to be found. When she’s back at home she discovers that well she was almost dying Angel had also gone missing. Being Aspen she was sure it wasn’t anything serious just ran off because she did horrible things to her.

On her first day back at school she ends up saying some pretty cruel things to Rand that she totally regrets because after some soul searching she discovers that she really does like him even if he’s a nerd. But he doesn’t believe her and she’s out to prove that she’s really changed but that’s not all. something weird is really going on in this small town and Aspen is pretty sure it’s about her when girls keep going missing. And she might not be wrong and self center as everyone thinks.

Can Aspen change? What’s going on with her mother? Who kidnapped Angel? Will her grand gesture win Rand over? Can Aspen figure out who is really behind all this?

Okay, this is the prefect weekend read. It will make you giggle and sigh during the sweet moments Aspen and Rand share. This book will take you back to High school and you can relive all those awkward moments all over again without actually being back in high school because who would want to do that? Though Aspen can be self-centered and a little annoying Stephanie Really hit the mark on how a teenage girl thinks. If you love the movie Clueless (and who doesn’t? I still watch it whenever I see it on TV. I mean like duh!) you will LOVE ASPEN!

My favorite part of this book is when Rand take Aspen through a drive threw to get coffee and when her order is wrong he doesn’t just drive away he takes charge and kindly asks for the correct order. Who doesn’t like a guy that stands up for him and his girl. Rand is totally sweet and I just wish Aspen would have figured it out sooner but then we really wouldn’t of had a book!

This is a fun weekend or study hall read. I give this book 4 stars it’s totally getting reread over and over. Cute read!

See Me

See Me by Wendy Higgins

see me Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! I thought I would celebrate to by giving you a review of a book with an Irish Theme. I never knew that you could make a Leprechaun so good-looking. See me is a Story about a girl named Robyn who has magic in her blood and grew up her WHOLE life knowing that she was chosen for an arranged marriage. She takes it rather well I think because if I was told that I wouldn’t have a chose in who I was to marry I would have been utterly upset! Knowing that she’ll have to marry him she starts at a very young age and start collecting gifts for this mystery man she’ll be marrying. She even starts a making videos for him where she tells him about what’s going on in her life as of right now.

But we start the book off at her graduating high school and she’s about to go halfway around the world to finally meet him in person and it is then that her parents finally tell her what kind of magic flows through his blood and it wasn’t at all what she imagined.

McKale is a Leprechaun. A bloody Leprechaun! You can image what her first thought is because it was the same as mine. Oh My Gosh! He is going to be short! Small! She is going to be taller than him. Turns out that isn’t the case McKale ends up being rather tall for a Leprechaun and very shy because he doesn’t fit in with the rest of his kind. McKale tends to hang out with Rock, or Ronan, a Clourichaun because they are more average height and he doesn’t stick out as much. Thought they are rowdier and untamed then the Leprechauns. Cassidy, Robyn’s sister, takes a liking to Rock.

Though McKale is shy Robyn like him, but her heart sinks when she realizes that Khalistah, the Fae Girl, likes McKale. Though while growing up Mckale enjoyed having the attention of the Fae Girl she is starting to come in between her and McKale and it’s going to have to be up to Robyn and Mckale to stop her before she takes McKale to fairy.

This is a Great read. I finished it in one day. If you’re looking for a book to get you in the St. Patrick’s day mood this is the book for you! It’s a wonderful and fun read. McKale and Robyn are both shy and it’s fun to watch them slowly get to know each other. They have lots of sweet moments that will remind you of the first time you of your first love.

My favorite part of the books has to be when Cassidy and Robyn take the boys into town and they go dancing. Gotta love a man who knows how to dance, plus he’s a hot Irish red head. What isn’t there to love?

I give this book 4 stars and one big thumps up! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Until Next Time! Read On and Enjoy!

Infinity (Xandrian Circle Book 1)

Infinity (Xandrian Circle Book 1) by Allaina Daniels

Infinity“He is exactly your type: calls you on your shit, is charming, funny, and adores you to no end. And, you haven’t been able to make him go away. if he isn’t your boyfriend, then what is he?” Gabriel walked in just in time to hear Lissy and answered for Carmen, “Her dream come true.” – Chapter 17

Carmen has had a hard life. After being orphaned at the age of 5 she’s gone through many up’s and down’s and she has very few people in her life that she trusts. How I would describe Carmen is this she’s been able to talk to animals all her life, has a short temper, can control her dreams, and gets a little loopy when she has honey. Her Best friend and also Foster child Lissy has always been there for Carmen through thick and thin. They are basically sisters. Carmen goes out of state for work and her life is about to completely change. During her trip she has a strange dream which involves a wolf who turns into a very handsome naked man. After she wakes up she discovers that her birthmark on her shoulder burns like no other. Not knowing why she goes throw out her day. She tries to get rid of the pain but nothing helps finally she decides to head out and explore the town little did she know she’d run into the very man from her dreams who happens to follow her home along with some of his friends.

Carmen discovers that she isn’t quite human she is in fact an Xandrian. The descendants of the High Fae, Alexandria. Not only that but havening been born on summer solstice and having the ability to speak with animals her whole life means she’s very powerful more power then ordinary Xandrian’s. Being Xandrian means you have a soul mate and they all have an infinity birthmark and when they find their soulmate they will know because it will activate and when they get too far apart from each other it causes them excruciating pain.

Gabriel was getting very close that the age where if he didn’t find his soul mate soon that he would suddenly age extremely fast and die when Carmen entered his dream. She is his soulmate and he will do anything to protect her and also woo her even if it means following her back home and placing himself in her life.

Carmen tries to fight off Gabriel but it’s hard because she is so drawn to him and very handsome. Even her best friend Lissy likes him. But there’s something strange going on besides finding out that she’s an Xandrian and now has many Xandrian’s with strange powers all around her. She can tell someone is watching her and that person is up to no good. But that person may be closer to her then she thinks. Can Gabriel win Carmen’s heart? Who is stalking her? Can she open her heart up to love? What will happen when she comes into her full power on her birthday?

I really enjoyed reading this book! It tends to lulls sometimes and there are some grammatical errors that after a while off seeing the same thing over and over again makes it distracting and takes away from the book. I’m not one to nag about that but I just feel that if someone took a run through that they be able to fix them quickly. But other then that I really enjoyed the book. I can’t wait for the next one. I love the story about the Xandrian’s and I love the romance that blooms between Gabriel and Carmen.

I LOVE Lissy! I think every girl has a relationship with another girl that reminds them of Carmen and Lissy. Their relationship reminds me of the one I share with my older sister. We tell each other how it is and we know we can to one another anything. We’re each other’s person.

I think my favorite parts in the book are when Gabriel and Carman are only together in the house and they already seem to act like an old married couple. it’s just too sweet!

I also found that this book was very quotable. I highlighted numerous things in this book. And had a hard time picking what I wanted to use for this blog post. I feel like this one really showed off the relationship between Lissy and Carmen plus is shows a little insight into Gabriel.

I give this book 4 stars check it out!

Until next time, read on and enjoy!

Ignited (The Ignited Series Book 1) By Desni Dantone

“My hesitation was brief. I was so thirsty I didn’t care that I was practically swapping spit with him. In, fact when I handed the bottle back to him and he took another  swig from it before placing it in the bag, I thought it was kind of hot.”

ignited Hey everyone! I know I haven’t posted in a while and that’s because I was completely absorbed into this amazing Greek mythology world full of hybrids, Demigods, and gods and goddess. I read ALL five books in three days! Crazy right! They were just that amazing. I couldn’t stop I couldn’t put any of the books down. My husband was getting sick of me sitting on the couch staying up late because I just wanted to keep reading. I got to the point where I was so tired that I wasn’t even reading I was making up my own story because I was so tired I was half dreaming and I woke up in the morning reading were a I left off laughing at myself because none of that even happened hahaha. It’s a Book Worm problem.

So I’m gonna cheat and just use the Synopsis from Amazon because I don’t want to give away too many spoilers because I’m still so excited about this series that I just know I will if I have to write your a summary. And it’s just so good that I don’t want to ruin it for you. Just know that you have to read this series and the first book is FREE so it’s not gonna hurt you to download it and read it.

“Seventeen year old Kris Young is on the run from a throng of superhuman golden-eyed freaks hell-bent on seeing her dead, and she doesn’t know why. Good thing she has her guardian angel to protect her…sort of.

Kris is aided by Nathan, the mysterious man that ends up being anything but angelic when he rescues her for the fourth time in fourteen years. Even if the handsome hero illusion is shattered by his harsh treatment of her, he knows how to fight this strange enemy and is determined to keep her safe at all costs.
As the body count rises in their wake, Nathan introduces Kris to a world in which not everyone is human and the battle lines between good and evil are clearly drawn. Kris’s piece in the puzzle is something neither is aware of and, as they uncover the truth, neither is prepared for what they find. Overcoming twists and revelations that shatter both of their lives, they discover that nothing is as it seems and nothing, least of all their hearts, are safe. “

So there’s what the book is about but I will tell you my favorite parts of the book and that’s gotta be when Nathan and Kris are walking through the mountains and she is just so cold tat they have to snuggle that night and it’s just so cute. I love watching how their relationship changes. And heck I would just love to have myself a Hot Hybrid Boyfriend. Just saying.

Kris is a great lead character. I love how so cares and doesn’t think before she talks because what teenage girl doesn’t have extreme wordvomit? I know I do still are I’m apparently a grown up…? I’m 23 and have a daughter and I still don’t quite know if I would completely describe myself as one. In some ways yes but I’m still very young.

Anyways I am sure you will love this series! I loved this series so much so that I didn’t even read Unleash the Strom right when it came out because I was reading this series and couldn’t stop myself. I know I cheated on my book boyfriend Ash! shush don’t tell him. he doesn’t need to know!

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 and I give the WHOLE series a 5 out of 5!

Read it I know you’ll love it!

If you liked this review or read the series please leave me a comment!

Until next time, read on and enjoy!

Trust: The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One

Trust: The Alex Conner Chronicles Book One by Parker Sinclair

*** I was given this book for free From Vicki Drane to give an honest review. To see more about Vicki Drane check out her website HERE. ***

turst book one

“Alex Conner’s nights of event planning and partying in San Diego, California have taken a turn for the worse as nightmares invade her mind on a daily basis. The memories of the vile man she exiled using the powers inherited from her mother and grandmother are all but breaking into her living hours, and nothing is working to keep her nightmares at bay. Will she ultimately be the one responsible for bringing this horror back into her life? Who can she trust and how is she to deal with the draw she has towards a new man in her life – a man who is definitely more than meets the eye?”

I loved the book. It’s not your typically paranormal story with vampire, werewolves, but with earthens. they connect with earth in order to heal or protect. Alex Conner is rare because she can do both and that makes her a target. Alex is everything you want in a character strong, witty, and very successful on the outside but she been hurt with years of abuse and tends to ramble when faced with a seriously hot man. I mean WOW! Super hot not that I care or was thinking about him at all. What were we talking about? Oh yeah I’m writing a review, I get to mush over he next. Alex has two love interests in the book. There’s Justin who is safe, caring and loves her so much and he loves nature just as much as she does. It’s what draw them together in the first place. Then there’s Ryan who is mysterious and so SEXY! (See I’m Mushing) She feel a strong pull to him and he’s the only one that has ever stopped the nightmares that haunt her. And she needs that because she has a troubled pass that is catching up to her.

Now, there is one thing that I really disliked about the book. Every chapter opens with a journal entry and it really bother me because it just broke up the story line way too much. I got to the point where I would just skim them because I wanted to get back to the main story, But that shouldn’t stop you from reading it because its a great story and you need the insight of the journals I would just read the first few chapters first and then maybe after that read all the journal entries before getting back into the story because it was just to hard and it didn’t flow right. but other then that I really enjoyed reading the book and will read the next one.

I loved the earthen story it was a refreshing take on the paranormal world. my favorite part of the book would have to be when Ryan and Alex first dance in the club because they just couldn’t keep their hands off each other but at the same time my heart broke for Justin.

I give this book 3 star and a Thumps up!
