“David Stephenson is a kind drifter who comes to settle in the small Texas town of Westville. His sense, empathy, and awareness are well received by the residents of the failing town as they welcome and befriend him. During his stay he helps a small local girl try to realize her dream and while doing so excites and energizes the whole town to help out. Lives change as fate takes a critical turn. The local would-be reporter, tasked by David’s longtime friend, takes off on a mission to unravel the mystery of his travels, where he came from, and discovers why he is on his journey.”
It took me a few chapter to get into this book. It wasn’t a book that immediately pulled me in, and I had to put it down a few times. The book took a lot of twists and turns but once you get into the meat of the story it’s really good. David the stranger to the small and dying town of Westville. He is mysterious and decides to help out the town finding a way to save them. He starts the Caroline’s Fundraiser for the Library. Caroline is the granddaughter of Charlotte the owner of Charlotte’s Place where David rents a room above the diner. And Maria is the daughter of Charlotte (I know too bad her name doesn’t start with a C too.) Maria guards her heart but David is just the man she needs to melt it.
At first I thought this would be one of those lifetime movies (in book form) that you watch late at night and get sucked into and it would make a good lifetime movie. A mysterious drifter comes to a small town and saves it yay! but their was more to it then that. The ending will make you tear up. This book will open your heart and eyes. It’s the perfect book from a long weekend read.
My favorite Character is Caroline. She a sassy little girl and love her right off the bat. She’ll crack you up with her sweet sassiness. I just know my daughter is going to be sassy like her when she gets older because she’s already pretty sassy. Raylie has had attitude her WHOLE little life.
I give this book 3 stars. It was worth reading and I hope you all will give it a chance.
