Keepers of the Lost Cities

Keepers of the Lost Cities (Book 1) by Shannon Messenger

“Where are you supposed to be?” she asked instead.

“The Universe. I ditch whenever I can. Lady Belva has the worst crush on me. I mean, I can’t really blame her”-he gestured to himself-“but still, it’s awkward, you know?”

She was 90 percent certain he was joking, but he was also very good looking. She was sure at least half the girls in school had a crush on him. –Chapter 20

keepers-of-the-lost-cities Sophie Foster has never quite fit in. Not only has she skipped a bunch of grades but she can also read minds! Now, not only does she have to see the weird looks from her older classmates she can hear exactly what they think about her, along with her not so pleasant teachers. Sophie feels alone but that’s going to change soon. Enter Fitz, a mysterious and totally adorable boy (sigh). She learns that Fitz is also a telepath and shock their a whole other world that she belongs too! But to finally be with the people she was always supposed to be with she has to leave her family and her whole life behind. That’s not all! Go figure, Sophie still can’t fit into her new world. Not only is she known as the girl who was raised in the human world she has strange gifts and an impenetrable mind, and she ends up in a life threatening situation. Sophie needs to prove herself to the council and even her new family, can she do it? Well she’s going need some help from her new friends.

I LOVE this book series! And it’s the prefect series to read along with a preteen or teenager in your life. Sophie and her friends go on an adventure of a lifetime and experience many things that no one in their world ever has. I love Dex! That red headed boy cracks me up and he is SOOO in love with Sophie! Although I always picture in my head as tall gangly guy when he is actually short you know boys don’t hit that growth spurt until like they’re 16. (Trust me I remember the end of freshman year I was still taller then most of the guys in my class and then a month later I had to look up at them. I couldn’t believe it! Let’s just say I had A LOT of boys looking down my shirts that summer). Okay back to the book! Dex’s cracks me up when he ends up inn a situation with Sophie that involves an ATM. Lets just say I would LOVE his gift! I love this whole world that Shannon Messenger created! I want to go there for a week or two and I’ll have to take my friend Carolyn who introduced me to this series! (See recommend me books and I will read them!) We just need to get a hold of one of those pathfinders. I would love try out Light Leaping! Just don’t wanna disappear.

My FAVORITE character is Keefe! He’s that bad boy that every girl needs in her life. The good kind of bad boy! We all need a little Keefe in our lives and he sure knows how to make a girl blush. He brings me back to my middle school days. Oh the chills and the rush we used to get from a look or a compliment for the boy we liked. Keefe is sure to be in everyone’s heart. Did I tell you he can feel your emotions! Not good if you’re trying to keep secrets. Keefe also made one of my book boyfriends of the month list. Check that out ——> HERE!

The last book comes out November 1! So if you’re the person that like to start a series when all the books are out there’s better time to start this series then RIGHT NOW!

I give this book a 5 out of 5! It’s that amazing! You will not regret reading this book, it’s going to send you back to amazon for the next book and the next and the next! Happy reading!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

BOO! Did I scare you?

halloween-costume Happy Halloween! Are you going out trick or treating? Handing out Candy? Or maybe going to a fun costume party? Well even if you don’t go out or have any plans I have a special treat for you. I’ve been in full on writing mode trying to finish my first draft of A Fairy Story (AKA the book I’m writing). My goal is to have it finished before Landon is born. Wish me luck but here’s your treat. No tricks here. (I’m going as an overstuffed Scarecrow since I’m super pregnant.)

(Tarquin just spent the night taking care of a sick Story. This is the morning after I hope you enjoy!)

Something is tickling my lips.
It smells minty.
It won’t stop.
I groan and try to turn over but I’m held down by something heavy and warm, but I like it so I don’t mind it holding me. The warm thing laughs at me. I hate this warm thing. I try to squirm way from it. It full out laughs now and the tickling thing is back again.
“Story,” the deep groggy voice send chills down my spine.
I open eye and meet sleepy blue ones. I close them again and groan as a headache shoots through my body. “My head hurts.”
Tarquin clears his throat “I know, it’s from teleporting. Here, this will help.” Something tickles my lips again but this time I look at it and notice that it’s a mint leaf. I take it from his hand.
“How?”
He shrugs “They seem to help me when I teleport too much. I’ve giving you a few throughout the night.”

They are also protecting their eight year old sister, Page, and will do anything to keep her safe. The brothers decide that Reagan and Haley need help with being kept safe as well, and as a group they set off to find the Zombie-free utopia Reagan is dreaming of. They bring back the Olympic games–only a lethal version. The newest contender in these bigger, deadlier games is a young human girl they kidnapped from the streets above. For Kira Lier, it’s kill or be killed as she races against beasts she thought were just myths, to cross the finish line and win a chance to earn her freedom. (My Review)

Although each death is different, the result is the same: a life is saved, and Jesse resurrects days later with sore muscles, new scars, and another hole in her memory. But when Jesse is murdered and becomes the sole suspect in a federal investigation, more than her freedom and sanity are at stake. She must catch the killer herself–or die trying. (Free eBook)

Fear University by Meg Collett – I’ve always known I was a monster, and I don’t mean some teenage vampire shit either. My mother abandoned me when I was ten years old because I have a freakish mutant disease that makes me incapable of feeling pain. I bounced from one foster family to another because too many people like to test my medical condition in a game of “Try To Make Ollie Scream.” At sixteen, I killed a man for taking that game too far. Two years later, I’m still on the run in Kodiak, Alaska. Here, I’m the most dangerous person around, until I come face to face with a creature that should only exist in folklore. The monster is an aswang, and I, with my medical anomaly, am uniquely qualified to hunt the beast that haunts the night. At least, that’s what the two scarred, mostly crazy ’swang hunters tell me when they kidnap me and take me to Fear University, a school where young students learn to hunt and kill aswangs. I arrive at the university a prisoner, but I stay because I finally find my freedom. For once in my life, I belong. I’m needed. I make a home for myself inside the university masquerading as an old Alaskan prison. Something close to happiness warms my icy heart when I’m with my scarred, still mostly crazy tutor, Luke Aultstriver. For a murdering runaway like me, Fear University is a haven where I can put my skills to good use hunting monsters in the night. But when certain truths come to light and even more lies are exposed, I fear that I, Ollie Andrews, am the worst kind of monster of all. And, maybe, they should be hunting me. —> Amazon Link<—

Halfway Dead (Halfway Witchy Book 1) by Terry Maggert Carlie McEwan loves many things. She loves being a witch. She loves her town of Halfway, NY—a tourist destination nestled on the shores of an Adirondack lake. Carlie loves her enormous familiar, Gus, who is twenty-five pounds of judgmental Maine Coon cat, and she positively worships her Grandmother, a witch of incredible power and wisdom. Carlie spends her days cooking at the finest—and only—real diner in town, and her life is a balance between magic and the mundane, just as she likes it. When a blonde stranger sits at the diner counter and calls her by name, that balance is gone. Major Pickford asks Carlie to lead him into the deepest shadows of the forest to find a mythical circle of chestnut trees, thought lost forever to mankind. There are ghosts in the forest, and one of them cries out to Carlie across the years. Come find me.
Danger, like the shadowed pools of the forest, can run deep. The danger is real, but Carlie’s magic is born of a pure spirit. With the help of Gus, and Gran, and a rugged cop who really does want to save the world, she’ll fight to bring a ghost home, and deliver justice to a murderer who hides in the cool, mysterious green of a forest gone mad with magic. The Fertile Vampire (The Montgomery Chronicles Book 1) by Karen Ranney- Okay, so she’d dated a vampire. Maybe she got carried away one night. Becoming a vampire seemed a high price to pay for being foolish. Nor was this whole transformation thing starting off the way it was supposed to for Marcie Montgomery. She was hungry all the time – not for blood, but tacos and french fries and cheeseburgers, oh my. Then there was Niccolo Maddock, the Master Vampire who was acting as her mentor. Just what did he want? Going from being an insurance adjuster to a vampire could confuse the most level headed person and Marcie had always considered herself a pragmatist. Even when she was faced with relatives who weren’t who they’d always been, witches who were out to annihilate her, and the stunning knowledge of her own powers. Add in werewolves, shape shifters, and other Brethren and life in South Texas suddenly became very complicated. When Marcie discovered she alone could transform the vampire race, she was faced with a choice: to embrace who she was or change her destiny.
Why should anything be easy? This book will have you laughing OUT LOUD! I couldn’t put it down! —>Book Review <—

***Bonus: Any Witch Way You Can (The Wicked Witches of the Midwest book 1) by Amanda M. Lee- This series almost always makes my Must Reading Lists because they are such Amazingly funny and Captivating reads. I just want to crawl in these books and live in Hemlock Cove myself. Even with Aunt Tillie putting curses on everyone. These books will having laughing so HARD. Warning you now incase you’re reading it in public. Bay Winchester is having a tough week. As the local editor of Hemlock Cove’s only newspaper, she just happens to be present when a body is found in an area corn maze. To make matters worse, the police believe the murder may have something to do with the occult. This wouldn’t be a problem for a normal reporter, but since Bay is descended from a well-known line of actual witches, the town is understandably on edge. Between the suspicious townspeople, the befuddled police presence and that random hot biker guy that may or may not have something to do with the murder — Bay has her hands full. When you add the typical family problems, multiplying ghosts — and one monster of a zit that she’s sure came from her aunt’s curse — Bay is just struggling to make it through the week. Of course, when the killer sets his sights on Bay, things could get a whole lot worse. —> Book Review<—
