It Happened One Fright (Matchmaker Mysteries Book 8) By Elise Sax
If you follow me on Facebook you know that I quickly fell in love with this cozy mystery last month and read all the 7 books before it in less than a week. The characters are well developed as well as the mysteries Elise even fooled my a few times throughout the series! Plus, if you like sexy men, and steamy kisses you won’t be able to put the first book down. This cozy has it all from the men, the laughs, and a matchmaking all knowing Grandmother what more could you want… oh yeah a heroine who loves to meddle in the police of chief’s investigations and has an act for making a fool of herself and stumbling over dead bodies. It has that too!
It Happened One Fright is the 8th installment of the hilarious Matchmaker Mysteries Series.
Spencer might have marriage on his mind, but Gladie is distracted by her best friend’s troubles and a busy matchmaking month. The father of Bridget’s baby is threatening to take custody away from her, and when he winds up murdered, Bridget becomes the top suspect. Now, Gladie must juggle her own love life, her matchmaking, and proving that Bridget is innocent, not to mention dealing with the town’s attempt to break the world record for the largest Easter egg hunt. But poking around is dangerous, and Gladie could be next on the killer’s hit list.
It Happened One Fright is proof that sometimes love comes with a few dead ends.
The Hookup (Moonlight and Motor Oil Series Book 1) by Kristen Ashley
When the new girl in town, Eliza “Izzy” Forrester decides to hit the local drinking hole, she’s not ready to meet the town’s good, solid guy. She’s definitely not prepared to engage in her very first hookup with him. Then Izzy wakes up the next morning in Johnny Gamble’s bed and good girl Izzy finds she likes being bad for Johnny. Even so, Izzy feels Johnny holding her at arm’s length. But Johnny makes it clear he wants more and Izzy already knows she wants as much of hot-in-bed, sweet-out-of-it Johnny Gamble.
Floating on air thinking this is going somewhere, Izzy quickly learns why Johnny holds distant.
He’s in love with someone else. Someone who left him and did it leaving him broken. Whoever was up next would be runner up, second best. Knowing the stakes, Izzy will take what she can get from the gentleman that’s Johnny Gamble. And even knowing his heart might never mend, Johnny can’t seem to stay away from Izzy. Until out of nowhere, his lost love comes back to town. He’s not going back, but Johnny still knows the right thing to do is let Izzy go.
And Izzy knew the stakes, so she makes it easy and slips though his fingers.
But that’s before Johnny realizes Eliza moved to town to escape danger that’s been swirling around her.
And that’s why Johnny decides to wade in.
That and the fact Eliza Forrester makes breakfast with a canary singing on her shoulder and fills out tight dresses in a way Johnny Gamble cannot get out of his head.
Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West
Seventeen-year-old Abby Turner’s summer isn’t going the way she’d planned. She has a not-so-secret but definitely unrequited crush on her best friend, Cooper. She hasn’t been able to manage her mother’s growing issues with anxiety. And now she’s been rejected from an art show because her work “has no heart.” So when she gets another opportunity to show her paintings, Abby isn’t going to take any chances.
Which is where the list comes in.
Abby gives herself one month to do ten things, ranging from face a fear (#3) to learn a stranger’s story (#5) to fall in love (#8). She knows that if she can complete the list, she’ll become the kind of artist she’s always dreamed of being.
But as the deadline approaches, Abby realizes that getting through the list isn’t as straightforward as it seems . . . and that maybe—just maybe—she can’t change her art if she isn’t first willing to change herself.
The Young Queens (Three Dark Crowns Novella) by Kendare Blake
Mirabella, Arsinoe, and Katharine weren’t always scheming to murder each other. They weren’t always surrounded by rival foster families, each swearing to have their best interests at heart. And they weren’t always afraid of being unexpectedly attacked—by one of their own sisters, no less—in a way that could cost them their last breath.
They used to be together. Just three sisters. Alone in a glen.
This is the story of the three queens—after they were born, before they were separated, during the time when they all lived together, loved each other, and protected each other. It’s also the story of the day they were torn apart, and the several years that follow.
From birth to eleven years old, this is a rare glimpse of the queens’ lives…before they were at stake.
No Regrets: A Lexi Carmichael Mystery Book 10 by Julie Moffett
When I agreed to stand by my best friend, Basia, on her big day, I had no idea what I was in for. Bouquets and unflattering evening wear I can handle. But between disgruntled dates, a beach venue and suspicious packages, what else can go wrong? Oh, right—my parents don’t know I’ve moved in with Slash. Oops?
Thankfully, I’ve got everything semi under control, at least as far as Basia and Xavier know. They can leave for their honeymoon happy, knowing Elvis, Slash and I will keep things safe at home.
Meanwhile, Elvis and Xavier’s boss at ComQuest has asked X-Corp—well, me—to take a quick trip to retrieve a sensitive company package from the British Virgin Islands. No hacking involved. Just show up, accept the package and bring it home safely. A cushy assignment, and a safe one. Right?
Wrong. Things start to unravel the minute I set foot on the boat to the island. Before I know it, I’m up to my neck in thugs, sand and trouble. I’m going to have to work fast to stop the bad guys before the sun sets for good on this unexpected beach vacation…
Broom with a View: Sea Witch Cozy Mysteries, Book 1 by Morgana Best
Meet Goldie Bloom, a thirty something, high flying real estate agent sent out into the wilds of quiet seaside Australia by the boss who broke her heart. She is hardly expecting to inherit a cranky mystical wombat, discover she is descended from an ancient coven of sea witches, or find herself in the middle of a town with no coffee, but that’s precisely what happens. Goldie does her best to solve a murder, come into her powers, and stop that wombat from terrorising the ladies of the retirement village, all the while fighting her attraction for Max Grayson, the infuriatingly gorgeous detective.
The prequel to Broom with a View is Broom Mates in the anthology, Seven Pets for Seven Witches.
